Dear Friends, We are glad to report to you and give a few details of some of the activities over the past six months. Escalating expenses made it almost impossible for us to continue but we managed to secure a meaningful reduction in our lease rentals during April this year. At the same time some meaningful contributions also came in since then for which we are very thankful. We were once again allocated a sponsored stand at the Hobby-X Exhibition and certainly appreciate that public exposure that we had at that time and for privilege of sharing in such an event

Food, Clothes and Toys:

Because of the shortage of funds we could only start supplying meals from the end of April onwards and have till now provided about 500 meals. As to the distribution of food, clothes and toys we have had some very large special donations made to us and believe it or not we can report the following: 1). Food Distribution about 1.8 ton. 2). Distribution of clothes and toys over 2 tons. It must be appreciated how meaningful this has been even in a time when we were in somewhat of a financial crisis.

Our Children:

At this point in time we still have 5 children sponsored to go to school on a monthly basis and we note with much thankfulness the faithfulness of our sponsors in making their regular contributions. This investment in these few children has been a very, very meaningful one and only time will tell just how much it has meant in their young lives. This also obviously addresses in a small part the social-economic problem of our City.

Joblessness:

As is well known, we have our activities amongst the under-privileged and unemployed therefore we do whatever we can to provide practical help towards job facilitation. The typing of Curriculum Vitae also continues as before as well as the faxing and e-mailing of the C.V.s. Concerning job creation which we had to leave in abeyance for a short time, we have recommenced on a small scale but a sustained basis, looking to the future to develop this into something more meaningful and permanent in nature. It is at this point providing employment, therefore, funds for those who would otherwise be without any means of income.

Tax Deductable:

Just a reminder that all donations made directly to the Charity are Tax Deductable and subject to annual audit. Should you wish to make use of this Tax concession, please ask for a Tax Receipt when making a donation.

Building Urgently Needed

We are in urgent need of new premises in central Johannesburg. Our land lord is unrelenting and is asking high rentals which we can no longer afford. Our Landlord is also unsympathetic to our course and to the social upliftment we are doing. Our lease expires by end April. Rental agencies also are not exactly helpful as we are non - profit organisation.

Report for 2009

We thank all who over the year donated clothes, food items, money and of their time to help us help those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Without your help we would not have succeeded to do as much as we have done.

We served over 6207 meals in Johannesburg City centre and in addition over 50 meals where served every Sunday to Vulnerable Children in Eikenhoff.

We also during the course of the year distributed 100s of food parcel to those in need. Many this was the only source of food that they had. Due to lack of funds we could not do more.

We had 7 kids placed in school where the parents where financially unable to place them in school. (There is no free schooling in Johannesburg CBD) All our children did very well at school with one even receiving a reward at honours evening for academics. Afterwards he commented to us that we must tell his sponsors he is not wasting their money he is applying himself.

Our job creation program ran for the year on a very small scale. This was due largely to fnancial pressures on the Charity. Never the less they got some lucrative orders from Big Business with the Lion share going to the ladies doing the work.

Hobby X Expo March2009

We do truly thank the Organisers of Hobby X for donating a stand to our charity. Thank you to all who came and visited us while we were there. Thanks also goes to all our sponsors who have been sponsoring us over the past while. We have currently placed 8 vulnerable children in school and are currently feeding in the region of 150 adults a week and about 50 children. Due to lack of finance we have been unable to distribute food parcels for the past 6 months.

We are also urgently seeking better premises as the one we in is no longer suitable. If you hear of any suitable buildings in Johannesburg City Centre please let us know.

We give you below some crisp insight into the overall activities of GO Siza-Isizwe over the past six months: Food Distributed

Plates of food served in our premises: 4519

Cans of coke handed out: 3000 (donated by Spar)

Dry soup distributed to camps for Xenophobia victims as well as in terms of our food distribution scheme to families: 96 kg

Food Parcels distributed to 11 families and other needy homes: 19.7 kg

This was measured only from March to June but for the six months obviously much more was handed out).

Clothing We handed out clothes for adults as well as children in our premises to a total of: 341.7 kg

Sponsorship of Children We have been able to add two further sponsorships so that by now we are managing the sponsorship of six children who otherwise would not have been able to go to school. We hope to increase this number to 10 for this year and trust that more sponsors will come to the fore. We also cater for some of these children to come to us after school to assist them with their homework in instances where the parents cannot do it. At the moment three of the children attend these classes Hobby-X We were once again invited to have a display of our activities at the Hobby-X Exhibition in the Dome at Randburg during March this year and can report that this was a good success. Job -Creation

We have a small group of ladies doing knitting, beadwork as well as sewing and at the moment we are working on an order for 3500 items to be ready for Women’s Day. Consequently there is quite a lot of pressure on us to finish these items of beadwork timeously. Developments are otherwise relatively slow but we are confident, as we are exploring different avenues and means of promoting this, this part of our activities will expand over time. Personal Help

During the past six months we counseled no fewer than 147 people on different issues and were also able to draw up 22 CVs for job seekers. Thanks None of our activities would be possible without the generous and consistent support of individuals. Certain businesses have lent us support and there are still certain proposals which are to be considered by other parties and to which we expect a response over the next few weeks. Our most sincere appreciation for your support. Please be assured that funds donated to this Charity are meticulously recorded and applied so that we can give responsible account of all that has transpired in our activities.
